Native iOS Calendar Integration

Turn your Apple Calendar schedule into a calm, living garden.

You already schedule your meetings, reading hours, and deep work in Apple Calendar. Starting a separate stopwatch for every single task is exhausting. TimeGrow bridges the gap—turning your existing calendar blocks into an all-day visual garden, with zero duplicate entry and zero timer anxiety.

On-Device EventKit • No External Servers

No Manual Timer Stress

Let your planned calendar events count toward your daily record automatically.

Local EventKit Privacy

Event details never touch our servers. Stays between your iPhone and iCloud.

Retroactive Peace of Mind

Forgot to log a 2-hour workshop? If it was on your calendar, it blooms in your garden.

Why planning in Calendar and tracking in timers feels broken

Most productivity software expects you to live in their isolated ecosystem. The result is double-entry frustration and unnecessary friction.

01

Timer Paralysis

You spend 10 minutes setting up a timer, get interrupted by a teammate, and forget to pause it. Now your data is corrupted and tracking feels like a chore.

02

Double Admin Overhead

You already put the meeting, lecture, or gym workout into Apple Calendar. Re-entering it into a commercial time tracker is repetitive administrative waste.

03

Cold, Sterile Spreadsheets

Traditional work loggers treat life like billable agency hours. They offer cold bar charts instead of gentle reflections that celebrate how your day felt.

Workflow

How calendar events become your daily garden

Simple, automatic, and fully under your control. Here is how TimeGrow connects with iOS Calendar.

Step 1

Grant iOS System Calendar Permission

TimeGrow requests standard Apple EventKit permission, the same system prompt used by calendar widgets. Nothing is scanned until you grant access, and you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.

Step 2

Read Finished Schedules Locally

Each time you open the app, TimeGrow scans back over the last 30 days of calendar history on-device. Upcoming events are skipped until they conclude, ensuring your time records only reflect what you actually accomplished.

Step 3

Automatic Category & Flower Mapping

Events map to your TimeGrow activities through three rule types: exact title match, title keyword, or calendar name. A 45-minute “Client Review” maps to Deep Work, while a “Yoga Session” maps to Wellness. Calendars without rules are simply left alone.

Step 4

Watch Your Living Day Garden Flourish

Each converted event plants seeds that bloom into distinct botanical flowers in your daily garden timeline. At the end of the day, you see a colorful landscape of what your day held.

Privacy Architecture: Zero Third-Party Servers

Your schedule belongs to you. Not to an advertising network.

Many modern sync utilities pass calendar invitations through external cloud servers for processing. TimeGrow takes the opposite route: EventKit parsing runs 100% on your device silicon. Multi-device sync uses Apple's end-to-end encrypted iCloud Private Database. We never see your calendar event names, attendees, or notes.

Designed for everyday ease, not rigid micromanagement

Two-Way Non-Destructive Harmony

TimeGrow preserves the integrity of your original calendar. It links imported events with immutable IDs, preventing duplicate records when you re-sync or adjust notes inside TimeGrow.

Guilt-Free Retroactive Conversion

Real life is messy. You won't always remember to tap a timer when a conversation starts. TimeGrow frees you from timer guilt by letting yesterday's calendar events count just as much.

Custom Activity Mapping Rules

Assign calendar names or title keywords to designated plant species and activities. Whether it is “Lectures” growing sunflowers or “Meditation” growing water lilies, your garden mirrors your habits.

Zero Background Battery Drain

No constant background GPS or persistent listening daemon. EventKit queries execute swiftly in milliseconds when you open the app, keeping your iPhone battery full.

Where calendar sync stops, on purpose

An honest list of boundaries, so you know exactly what you are installing.

  • It reads only from the iOS Calendar app. Any account you have already synced there—iCloud, Google, Exchange, Outlook—works automatically. TimeGrow does not call third-party calendar APIs directly and does not ask for those account passwords.

  • Sync runs when the app is open. There is no background polling and no push processing. The upside is zero battery drain and zero server traffic; the trade-off is that your garden updates when you open the app, not the second an event ends.

  • Retroactive import covers the past 30 days. Events older than that are not pulled in automatically; track them manually if you need older history.

  • It never edits or deletes your source events. Importing is strictly read-only. When you export TimeGrow sessions back to your calendar, they are written to a separate TimeGarden calendar it owns—and removing an export never touches your original events.

  • Rules do the filtering, not a calendar picker. Events import only when one of your rules matches, so unmatched calendars stay untouched by default.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Apple Calendar integration in TimeGrow.

Last updated October 11, 2026 · Answers reviewed against the current App Store release of TimeGrow for iOS.

No. TimeGrow does not run power-hungry background polling. It reads Apple Calendar events on-demand using native iOS EventKit APIs only when you open the app or trigger a sync. Your device stays cool and battery consumption remains negligible.

TimeGrow is built with a strict privacy-first architecture. All calendar reading and category matching happens locally on your device. Your calendar events, titles, notes, and attendee lists are never uploaded to any third-party server or sold to advertisers. If you use multi-device sync, data travels securely through your personal Apple iCloud Private Database.

Never. TimeGrow maintains a non-destructive relationship with your system calendar. Each imported event receives a stable, unique link identifier to prevent duplicate entries. TimeGrow reads event times and titles to populate your daily timeline without modifying your scheduled meetings or invitations.

Yes! That is one of the biggest benefits. If you spent the afternoon in meetings or deep study and forgot to track time, your calendar events are already recorded. Each time you open TimeGrow, it scans the past 30 days and brings matched past events into your timeline, awarding you seeds for your daily garden without any penalty.

Because TimeGrow interfaces directly with Apple EventKit, time zones are handled natively by iOS. When you travel across time zones, your events stay aligned with the actual local time and your 24-hour garden timeline adjusts accordingly.

Yes. Import is rule-based, so nothing enters your garden until a rule matches it. Rules come in three kinds: exact event title, title keyword, or calendar name. To track Work and Study calendars while keeping personal ones private, simply create rules for the calendars you want and none for the rest—events with no matching rule are never read into your timeline. A guided auto-match flow can suggest rules based on your most frequent events from the past month.

Let your existing calendar grow into something beautiful.
